Acurast Hits 70,000 Phones — Onboarding 5,000 Phones in a Week

Zug, Switzerland — May 20, 2025 — Acurast has officially passed a major milestone: 70,000+ smartphones onboarded, spanning 130+ countries, and powering over 250 million transactions and 10,750 secure compute deployments — all without relying on centralized data centers.

This growth isn’t just about numbers. It reflects a fundamental shift in how infrastructure is built — from cloud servers to pockets and drawers worldwide.

“We’re not just talking about decentralization — we’re running it, and it’s accelerating,” said Alessandro De Carli, Co-Founder of Acurast.
“In the last month, we’ve welcomed thousands of new users — driven by the attention of the ongoing Public Token Sale on CoinList and the onboarding of the Solana community, through both wallet support and our launch on the Solana Mobile dApp Store.”

Phones as Compute. People as Providers.

Acurast turns everyday smartphones — including old or damaged ones — into secure compute nodes. Thanks to modern Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), even lightweight devices can handle sensitive workloads with verifiability and confidentiality.

By eliminating the need for mining rigs or special-purpose hardware, Acurast has become the most accessible DePIN project:

  • No upfront cost. No technical barrier.
  • Just a smartphone — even one collecting dust, or has a broken screen

10,000 Freshly Onboarded Phones in Under a Month

On April 30, Acurast announced that it just passed 60,000 phones. By May 19, the network had surged to over 70,000 — adding more than 10,000 new devices in less than three weeks. 5,000 alone in the last week mostly fueled by the firework of integrations and announcements:

Strategic partnerships and real-world use cases:

  • Acurast and FLock.io partnered to launch an AI-powered staking assistant, optimizing validator strategies using Acurast’s decentralized compute
  • HOPR began exploring how Acurast can eliminate centralized weak points in privacy network infrastructure
  • Stacy.fi uses Acurast to power automated and secure liquid staking, showcasing how programmable workloads can bring efficiency to DeFi

Rethinking Compute — At Scale

Modern mobile devices now rival traditional servers — while being more energy-efficient, globally distributed, and already in people’s hands. With zero capital cost and minimal friction, Acurast is showing that meaningful infrastructure can be both powerful and radically inclusive.

Acurast’s rapid growth isn’t just technical success. It represents a shift in how global infrastructure is built — and who gets to participate.

“We’re seeing clusters of phones turning into compute hubs — not in data centers, but in homes, offices, and communities,” said Alessandro De Carli. “That’s the future we believe in.”
