Acurast Launch Map
This year has been an immense year of progress for Acurast; we managed to exceed the targets we’ve set in terms of traction, product maturity, and, most importantly, you, the community!
Rebels, let me tell you, while I know we’re doing the right thing, the extra motivational boost we get when seeing your involvement is awesome. Here are a couple of things I’d like to highlight and shoutout:
- Thank you, Cellhasher, for doing R&D on the hardware side and designing cases that allow for a secure, tidy, and performant way to operate Acurast farms. I’m super excited for the next iteration of the case as it will bring one big game-changer feature.
- Thank you, Passive Crypto Mining, for believing in us early on and creating educational content that made it easier for people to onboard to Acurast. It was a great surprise and an awesome milestone to see that your video reached organically over 110k views, making it the best-performing content for us and your channel, a testament to this symbiotic collaboration.
- Thank you, Kevin, for all the feedback provided and the inspiring insights you shared from the point of view of a large processor manager.
- Thank you, @Iljasaf (aka shirt guy 😊 ), for representing Acurast and spreading the word about this
Obviously, there are many more examples of how awesome you are and how important this community of like-minded people is to achieve our goal: rethink compute by activating the compute in billions of smartphones and offering a permissionless, secure and confidential compute platform to developers.
Without you, this dream would stay and not become a reality.
From The Acurast Canary Launch To Unprecedented Growth
Web3 is unavoidable and will see a big adoption over the next years, completely replacing the old Web2 world. The reason is simple: the internet is a very democratizing technology that enables people worldwide to act as equals with equal chances, but only a few centralized players control a majority of it. While these players became large through offering the user’s value, a process of enshittification (1) started, basically no longer having the user’s best interest in mind. The idea of a decentralized cloud has been around for quite some time.
But it’s only through the scale, performance, and security offered by mobile devices that this vision can be turned into reality.
Back in June we updated our Road to Acurast mainnet plan and told the world about our plans, from June until today a lot has happened. We’ve made much progress since and have exciting new insights to share. After the launch of the Acurast Lite we experienced unprecedented growth with compute provision.
To our surprise our incentivized testnet is the most active chain in the Kusama ecosystem, we already reached over 120 M transactions on testnet! To be honest, we were not expecting this kind of traction and activity on the incentivized testnet. This battle testing of the protocol allowed us to optimize and scale the protocol by more than 100x since its inception. These are optimizations that needed to be implemented on the mainnet eventually anyhow, but we could precede that in the testnet.
The other thing we realized as more and more developers started using the protocol to deploy their own applications was that the pricing and reward system needs a rework to be ready for prime time. Long-term sustainability and your participation in the network are of the utmost importance for the project to succeed and deliver on the vision.
With that in mind, we redesigned the entire reward and pricing system and will release it soon on testnet to see its impact. Additionally, we’re in conversations at various stages with multiple parties, adding value up to and beyond the TGE, and it still takes some time to conclude.
When Mainnet? When TGE?
Because of these events, and after many internal discussions, we had to come to the conclusion that pushing back on the date of the TGE would benefit the protocol in the long term and allow everyone to have a better-designed system.
Long story short, the target for TGE is April 2025.
With that said, we have some exciting upcoming milestones on the roadmap to highlight.
