What is a Processor?
The Processors are the backbone of the Acurast network, providing the Secure Hardware infrastructure that is used by Developers for various use cases such as confidential computing, verifiable price feeds, verifiable random numbers, privacy-preserving API calls, and much more.
Once you’ve set up a Processor device, it will automatically receive job assignments based on your specified settings. The device operator’s only responsibility is to ensure it’s running and has internet access; the protocol takes care of everything else.
How to become a Processor
To become an Acurast Processor takes just 3 minutes, and all you need is one of the Acurast recommended mobile devices. These can be brand new or from the second-hand market, which means you can even use phones with cracked screens. The Acurast Console is where you manage your device. To sign up to the console you can use Talilsman or any PolkadotJSExtension enabled wallets.
After signing up, factory reset your device, and tap 6–8 times on the setup screen, a QR scanner will appear. Scan the Acurast setup-QR code shown in the console, and the device will set itself up like magic. See below the illustrated process:

Requirements to become eligible for the bootstrap incentives as a Processor
To be eligible for the bootstrap incentive paid by the protocol your hardware needs to send out a minimum of one heartbeat per hour to prove the device is online and able to offer the infrastructure to accept Acurast jobs.
A single person can have multiple Processors running at the same time. Users like @djangobits for example are running farms of 15+ devices all managed by the same account. This makes him eligible for up to 250 x 15 =3750 cACU Tokens per month.
Even phones with cracked screens can be used as an Acurast processor, the protocol only cares about the secure hardware.
Now let’s do it, shall we? The Step by Step guide
- Head over to the Console and log in on the top right.
2. Connect your Wallet with the Acurast Console. Choose between Polkadot and Tezos.
3. On the menu on the left side choose the “Devices” section. Then select “+ Add New Device” to connect your dedicated device with the Acurast console.
4. You will now be prompted with a setup QR code. Take your freshly prepared dedicated device, turn it on, and tap the setup screen 6–8 times to activate the QR setup scanner. Scan the QR code, and the device will set itself up within minutes. Make sure to connect it to a reliable Wi-Fi source.
5. The device will be displayed under the “Processor > Devices” menu within the next minute. If it takes longer, be sure to refresh the page.
That’s it! You are now a Processor. To add more devices simply click on the button “+ Add New Device”.
