So let’s take a moment to celebrate all our users, what we’ve achieved and look forward to the exciting year ahead. Happy end of the year, everyone!

Our Mission

From day one, Acurast’s mission is very clear. Acurast is actively trying to solve a core problem in the Web3 industry.

Despite the current bear market, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum experiencing significant declines from their all-time highs in November 2021, web3 developers have remained active and have even seen a record year in 2022., according to a report by Alchemy team.

Acurast is paving the way for the next phase of Web3 innovation by bridging the gap between the real world and the Web3 world. One of the biggest challenges facing Web3 development is the ability to access reliable, interoperable, and easily accessible off-chain data.

Acurast has found a solution to this problem through its multi-chain first approach and native interoperability layer. This infrastructure provides developers with a single abstraction layer that meets their off-chain data requirements, no matter which ecosystem they are working in. In short, Acurast serves as a stepping stone for developers to unleash the full potential of Web3 technology on the Tezos, Polkadot, Kusma, Cosmos, and more blockchains.

Community Building

The importance of community in Web3 cannot be overstated. Whether through facilitating collaboration, driving adoption, or fostering a sense of belonging, communities play a vital role in the growth and development of Web3 projects. By coming together and sharing knowledge and resources, we can help bring about the full potential of web3 and shape the future of the internet.

The team at Acurast fully values the importance of our community in our different channels ranging from Discord, Telegram, and Twitter where we actively engage our community members and also ensure they can freely interact with each other.

A look back at key moments over the last few months

We’ll love to give a brief highlights of some of the key moments, Partnership and products that shaped Acurast in the year 2022, and also give you a sneak peek of what to expect in 2023.

Football world championship

A group of anonymous developers have used the Acurast oracle to generate data for the just concluded football world championship.

FlaminGoals is a betting platform on the Tezos blockchain where rewards are a share of a pot that came together through the sale of tickets for each team.

Such flexibility allows developers ultimate freedom in how they choose to obtain data or computation, while also removing the need for any centralised approvals. With Acurast, developers truly have the power in their hands to create with no boundaries.

This further shows the many exciting use case of Acurast and its importance to the web3 ecosystem.

Polkadot sub0 Developers Conference

The city of Lisbon hosted the sub0 Polkadot developers conference. The conference is the biggest gathering of developers in the Polkadot ecosystem.

As expected, yours truly Acurast was duly represented by the co-founder Pascal Brun and the amazing developers solving the issue of bringing real-life data and computation off-chain.

The 2-day program which was held from November 28–29, serves as an avenue to introduce Acurast to the Polkadot developers’ community.

Data Transmitters

We received a lot of applications from institutions and individuals wanting to become Data Transmitters on Acurast.

Data Transmitters provide developers with powerful computation and make Acurast Jobs run smoothly in the Acurast Trusted Virtual Machine. This machine makes use of Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) like the Android TEE present in everyday Android gadgets so that Acurast’s system remains secure and untampered with.

The Data transmitter on Acurast includes but not limited to Taurus SA, Madfish, Mayhem Nodes, and Iceberg Nodes.

Acurast Webinar

We organized a webinar for those willing to become a data transmitter on Acurast, where we taught them how to use to use the devices to sign-up as a data transmitter and the rewards associated with becoming a data transmitter on the Acurast marketplace.

Partnerships

Partnerships is very crucial in the web3 ecosystem as it helps to drive adoption and usage of web3 technologies and applications.

By partnering with established companies or organizations, web3 projects can tap into their networks and resources to reach a wider audience and gain credibility. This can be especially important for new or emerging projects that may not yet have a strong reputation or user base.

Partnerships can help to build trust and credibility within the web3 ecosystem. By working with reputable organizations, web3 projects can demonstrate their commitment to transparency and best practices, which can help to build trust with users and other stakeholders.

This is one of the reason Acurast partnered for example with Pendulum chain and Amplitude chain to use Acurast trustless oracle to bring trustless and verifiable price feeds to Pendulum (and its canary chain, Amplitude) through Acurast.

Acurast on Rococo

Acurast is now live on the Rococo testnet! This will allow them to test the Acurast Marketplace, the Acurast Verification Engine, and other core features on the Polkadot testnet. Once testing is complete, the team plans to move on to Kusama and then eventually to the Polkadot mainnet.

What to expect!

It’s been a busy and eventful year, and as it comes to a close, it’s a good time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and what we’ve learned.

As we look ahead to the new year, it’s important to keep this momentum going and to continue to innovate and adapt. We have much to be proud of, but there is still much work to be done. Let’s keep pushing forward and making a positive impact in the world.

Acurast marketplace will also be live in the middle of 2023. The Acurast marketplace is a safe, secure, space bringing together Data Consumers and Data Transmitters by delivering a seamless experience, ultimately enabling a data economy.

The team at Acurast will continue with more community education via blogging, Twitter space and attending more community events. If you have any events or hackathons that can be beneficial to our team, kindly reach out to us at hi@acurast.com.
